Remote MCP server

Write and publish SEO articles from your AI agent

ChimpanSEO writes articles structured so that Google and AI search engines can cite them, then publishes them to WordPress. The MCP server gives Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop or any MCP client the same workflow as the dashboard, within your plan limits.

Endpoint
https://chimpanseo.app/api/mcp
Transport
Streamable HTTP, stateless
Auth
Authorization: Bearer <API key>

1. Create an API key

Sign up, connect a site, then open Settings > API/MCP in the dashboard. Keys start with csk_ and can be full access or read-only. The dashboard also has a button that copies the connection command with the key already filled in.

2. Connect your client

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http chimpanseo https://chimpanseo.app/api/mcp \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
Cursor: ~/.cursor/mcp.json or .cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "chimpanseo": {
      "url": "https://chimpanseo.app/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}
Claude Desktop: claude_desktop_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "chimpanseo": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://chimpanseo.app/api/mcp",
        "--header",
        "Authorization:${AUTH_HEADER}"
      ],
      "env": {
        "AUTH_HEADER": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop's Connectors screen only accepts OAuth, so this uses the mcp-remote bridge (requires Node.js).

Any other client: point it at https://chimpanseo.app/api/mcp with Streamable HTTP and send the Authorization header on every request. The header x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY works too. The server is stateless, so GET and DELETE return 405.

3. Ask your agent

For example:

  • “Suggest five topics for my site and write the first one.”
  • “Audit my homepage and tell me what to fix first.”
  • “Refresh my article about Perplexity and publish it as a draft.”
  • “Schedule one article a week for the next month.”

FAQ

Do I need a ChimpanSEO account?

Yes. The handshake and the tool list are public, so any client can discover the server, but every tool call needs an API key from a ChimpanSEO account. New accounts get a 15-day free trial.

Does the MCP server cost extra?

No. It is included in every plan. Articles generated through MCP count against the same monthly quota as the dashboard.

Can a key be limited to reading?

Yes. A read-only key can list sites, articles and the calendar, read articles, suggest topics and run audits, but cannot generate, refresh, publish or schedule.

Does it support OAuth?

Not yet. Authentication uses an API key in the Authorization header (x-api-key also works). Clients that only accept OAuth connectors, such as the Connectors screen in claude.ai, cannot connect directly.

Which sites can it publish to?

Publishing and scheduling work on WordPress sites. Framer and Webflow sites can be connected, but their articles are copy-paste only.
